Carmel Ausborn Montgomery, 94, died on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the Gilmore Memorial Hospital in Amory. She was born on May 19, 1923 in Monroe County to Andy Woody and Annice Tubb Ausborn. Prior to her retirement, she had worked in the area garment industry and she was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Amory. She enjoyed staying connected with her family. She loved to sew, was known as an exceptional cook, and Mrs. Carmel was an avid telephone conversationalist.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Minister Marshall Eubanks, Jr. and Rev. Chris Mitchell officiating. Kevin Smith will deliver the eulogy.
Survivors include her daughter, Clara Smith (Tommie) of Hatley; 4 grandchildren, Barry Smith (Patricia), Portia Young (Steve), Terry Smith (Deandra), and Keven Smith; 9 great grandchildren; Rebecca Lambert (John), Layla Kennedy (Ben), Zachary Young (Kirstie), Jacob Young (Caitlyn), Katie Hughes (Chad); Mary Elisabeth Smith, Anna Catherine Smith, Laura Lee Smith, and Emma Caroline Smith; 7 great great grandchildren, Annie Mae Kennedy, Ryan, Kyleigh, and Kyler Young, Cole Hughes, Charley Claire Young, and Josephine Isabelle Lambert.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one great grandson, Justin Smith.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Gault, Van Rogers, Tommy Minich, Hayden Minich, Barry Smith, Steve Young, Paul Gault, Terry Smith, and Kevin Smith.
Visitation will be from noon until 1:50 p.m. at the funeral home on Saturday.
