Carl Dudley Lindsey, 74, died on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at his home. Born November 3, 1941, he was a son of Dan Coleman and Ersell Frederick Lindsey. He was a 1959 graduate of Hatley High School and prior to his retirement, he worked as a machinist at Fabri-Valve in Amory. Carl honorably and proudly served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific. His hobbies included gardening and fishing. He took pleasure in making people happy and was a talented musician. He played in several groups but most enjoyed the time playing with his “front porch” band playing every weekend and he cherished the time spent with his family and friends.
A graveside service will be 2:15 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2016 at the Hatley Cemetery. Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include Anthony C. Lindsey of Aberdeen, David W. Lindsey of Hatley, and Thomas Jason Lindsey (Dena) of Columbus; one brother, Wayne Lindsey of Hatley; 4 sisters, Dorothy Short of Hatley; Betty Sue O’brien of Hatley, Faye Beam of Amory, and Olean Bowen (Rufus) of Amory; 5 grandchildren, Amber Jade Lindsey, Kalee Lindsey, Delaina Thompson, Camille Lee, and Stella Lee; a host of several cousins, nieces, and nephews, and special friends, Hubert Howard, Wayne Howell, and Robert Nash.
He was preceded in by his parents; one sister, Ann Gibbs; and a nephew, Billy Lindsey.
Pallbearers will be John Ledlow, David Smith, Steve Butler, Jeremy Bowen, Neil Pringle, and Robert Tubb.
Visitation will be from 11:30 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
