Dalton Boyd Bryan , 81, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at his home. Born in Splunge on October 22, 1939 he was a son of Dalton Wall and Bernice Noe Bryan. Boyd was Salutatorian for the 1957 class of Hatley High School and earned his associate degree in industrial education from Itawamba Junior College. He married the former Carolyn Camp and for many years, he was a locomotive engineer for the Frisco/Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad and prior to his retirement, he was the Operation Lifesaver representative/instructor for the Memphis Division of BNSF. Boyd served many years as a deacon and later an elder at Amory Church of Christ where he also taught Sunday school. He enjoyed reading, travel, and gardening.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with Philip Hathcock and Bobby Cleveland officiating. Burial will follow in the Masonic Cemetery.
In addition to his wife, Carolyn Bryan, he is survived by three daughters, Kelly Mann (Dean) of Amory, Karen Weirauch (Joe) of Amory, and Jennifer Moody (Mike) of Dresden, TN; two brothers, Pat Bryan (Laura) of Starkville and Mike Bryan of Amory; his sisters, Myra Harmeling of Beaver Creek, OH, Janice Franks of Mobile, AL, and Lady Holman (Terry) of Hamilton; his grandchildren, Rebecca Mann, Bryan Mann, Christopher Bryan (Michelle), Michael Weirauch, Logan Weirauch, Rylie Childs, Will Childs, and Kaegan Moody; great grandchildren, Eason Bryan, Abigail Bryan, and Baker Moody; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Ruth Bryan; a sister, Shelba Ann Otts; and brother, Hugh Adam Bryan.
Pallbearers will be Dean Mann, Joe Weirauch, Michael Moody, Bryan Mann, Chris Bryan, Michael Weirauch, Logan Weirauch, and Will Childs. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Minch, Doug Wax, Roger Cadden, Joyce McShane, and employees of BNSF railroad.
Visitation will be on Saturday from noon until service time at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Maywood Christian Camp, or to the Church of Christ Relief Fund.
