Billy Umfress

Billy Umfress, 77, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Diversicare Nursing Home in Amory. Born in Itawamba County on February 8, 1942, Billy was the first of two sons born to Burgess and Frances Chism Umfress. He attended Trace Road and Smithville schools and had worked in the area garment industry. A man of many trades, he also, before his retirement, would bring vehicles from up north to detail and resell. Billy was an avid gardener and in his spare time he enjoyed going to the Trace Drive-In when it was in operation. Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. Chuck Moffett officiating. Burial will be in the Haughton Memorial Park. Survivors include his brother, Gary Umfress (Chyrell) of Amory; nieces, Cindy Minga (Randy) of Greenwood Springs and Tish Minga of Becker; nephew, Stephen Umfress of Becker; and a host of cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers and visitation for Billy will be on Tuesday afternoon beginning at 4 p.m. Condolences may be shared with the family at clevelandmoffettfuneralhome.com
