Billy Gene Pearson, 82, died on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Merit Health Gilmore Memorial Hospital. Born January 6, 1933 in Monroe County, he was a son of Carl and Claude Kyle Pearson. He married Bonita Nash July 4, 1953. He worked for Walker Mfg in Aberdeen and he worked for over 25 years at True Temper Sports retiring as human resources manager. A man of faith he was a member and former elder of the Christian Chapel Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, tennis, gardening, woodworking, and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed all sports and took great delight in watching his grandchildren play.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the Christian Chapel Church of Christ with Ministers Marshall Eubanks, Jr., Chase Surrell, and Bobby Cleveland officiating. Brian Pearson and Kent Carter will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery. Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Bonita Pearson of Hatley; one son, Alan Pearson (Brenda) of Hatley; two daughters, Vicky Carter (Kent) of Jackson, TN and Suzanne Watson (Donny) of Birmingham; one brother, Dennis Pearson (Pat) of Amory; 3 sisters, Peggy Head (Billy Wayne) of Amory, Glenda Smith (Greg) of Seneca, SC, and Judy Dove (Buck) of Hatley; 6 grandchildren, Jana Pearson, Brian Pearson (Sara), Whitney Young (Travis), Shelley Vaughn (Ben), Megan Watson, and Paige Watson; one great grandchild, Parker Pearson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers; and 4 sisters.
Pallbearers will be Sam Carpenter, Vaughn Dale Howell, Lowell Worthey, Jason Heady, Steve Young, and J.D. Walters. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Howell, Randle Gray, Tommie Smith, and Mike Hurley.
Visitation will be noon until service time on Saturday at the church.
