Longtime businessman, Howard Bailey Haney, 71, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at North Mississippi Medical Center—Amory following a sudden illness. Bailey was born on September 27, 1952, in Stamford, TX to Marvin York and Reba Faye Prince Haney. During his freshman year in high school, his family moved to Wren, MS, to take over Haney’s Super Market. He was a graduate of Amory High School, and he was married to the former Pam Williams on October 30, 1970. Bailey had an entrepreneurial spirit having his hands in many different things throughout his life whether it was operating the supermarket, automobile sales, selling insurance, or anything in between. He had a huge personality that drew people to him and considered his many customers as friends. Greeting with a smile, Bailey was very intentional in encouraging others with a firm handshake or hug making sure you felt cared about. Bailey was very community oriented having one of the oldest businesses on Main Street in Amory, Haney’s Auto Sales, and a founding member of the Wren Volunteer Fire Department. He loved everything Ole Miss, always sharing a “Hotty Toddy!” Above all, his family was the most important. A true patriarch, he was a great role model who led by example, imparting great advice and wisdom to his grandchildren teaching them to always keep God first. He was a long-time member of Central Grove Baptist Church.
